I just got home from an enthralling 2-hour interview with the musician / photographer / alien known as MOBY. Hundreds of people attended the interview at the Annenberg Theater within the Palm Springs Art Museum hosted by Brad Dunning. Moby drove in from Los Angeles just for this event and discussed his love of architecture, semiotics, city planning and he also revealed the name of his new album coming out in September 2015.

Moby revealed the name of his new album

Moby shared his thoughts on architecture, photography and music.

After sharing dozens of his personal architectural photographs and stories about music luminaries David Bowie, Lou Reed and Kris Kristofferson…a Q&A session was held.

We learned that 3 of his favorite albums of all time are:

* Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin III (1970)
* The Clash – The Clash (1977)
* Pantera – The Great Southern Trendkill (1996)

The last question asked was when should fans expect a new album. Moby discussed the process of choosing the songs for his new album as quite relaxing as no one listens to an album in its entirety any more. It will come out in September 2015.

Moby’s upcoming new album is titled BABY LUCIFER.

The album cover will be a happy blue smiley Lucifer emoji with red eyes on a pink background. Why? Why not.

Here’s a couple links to some of Moby’s personal projects that he so generously shares for the world to enjoy:

Moby Gratis offers over 150 original music tracks from his collection available for free if used in independent or non-profit film projects. If your project is for profit…the royalty fees for the music go directly to The Humane Society per Moby’s generous request.

Check out Moby’s photo blog of hidden and interesting homes and locations in Los Angeles.

Moby is also opening a vegan restaurant in Silver Lake this July 2015.
The yet unnamed eatery will be at 2870 Rowena Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90039

Moby stayed long after his interview was over to speak with his fans.

On the last day of the 2015 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Moby (who played the first festival in 1999) was in an Art Museum instead of on the stage performing his music. It was an enlightening interview that broached the varying subject matters of: architecture, sound baths, music history, veganism, life struggles and the WASPiest city in Connecticut. They say that meeting your heroes dispels their magic and often disappoints. That was not the case today. I know have a deeper respect and appreciation for @thelittleidiot (Moby’s twitter) and his love of animals, music and life.
