Neil Sawyer turned 100 years old on October 24th, 2018, making him a Centenarian. Neil is a decorated WWII US Navy Lieutenant Commander from Winona, Minnesota who served on the USS Boise in the Pacific during the war. Shortly before his birthday, I accompanied him on his vacation to the Palm Springs Air Museum. We flew on a C-47 Skytrain over Palm Springs while a P-51 Mustang shared our skies.
I filmed the occasion on a Nizo 801 Super 8mm camera and shot on Kodak Vision3 50D Super 8mm film. The film was scanned at 2K resolution courtesy of Frame Discreet in Toronto. I then edited and color graded the footage using Adobe Premiere Pro 2019 and the Lumetri Color options.

Neil, now a Centenarian, attributes his longevity in life to his tips to live by:
– A glass of wine at night is a good idea
– Ditch stress
– Don’t smoke
– A nice ride in a fast car every once in a while
– Take a nap every day
– Invest your money well
He is looking forward to his next vacation to San Diego in January 2019 to participate in the commissioning of the Navy ship U.S.S. Michael Monsoor.
Until next time…
