One of the most post popular posts on VashiVisuals over the last 2 years is The Ultimate Aspect Ratio Guide which shows 70 film frame sizes covering the history of cinema. It also includes 70 FREE widescreen templates in 1080 and 720 resolutions for filmmakers. HERE’S THE LATEST UPDATE…
In the past few years, 2K / 3K / 4K / 5K / 6K cameras have surged onto the filmmaking scene, so I have created 56 FREE templates (available to download from this blog post) to cover all these new frame sizes and resolutions. They are all PNG files (with transparencies) that can be imported into any NLE/VFX software and then dropped onto your full resolution footage to create cinematic framings.
Here are the 8 aspect ratios I’ve chosen:

In this 3840 x 2160 timeline within Adobe Premiere Pro CC
I’m using the UHD 3.00 preset for an exaggerated widescreen look.
HOW TO APPLY THE TEMPLATES:
Import the PNGs into your NLE or After Effects CC.
Pick the template with the resolution and aspect ratio you need.
Drag and drop onto a video track above your footage.
Reposition footage as needed & enjoy your cinematic imagery!
All 56 FREE TEMPLATES are based on 16:9 frame sizes for all resolution sizes.
UNRAVEL CHEAT SHEET has all HD to 6K high resolution frame sizes.
Until next time…

Huge thanks for the update to the templates and referring to the Unravel cheat sheet. Always an amazing source for cool and sometime strange cinema info. Would love to hear more about that 3x look and ur thoughts on best uses. I worked on a few 2.76:1 films \ music videos, pretty neat!
Thank you very much Vashi
